It is the death-blow to human tradition and ordinance in divine things, and in reality depends on the truth of the absolute ruin of man a truth which, as we see, the disciples were very slow to recognize. The true disciple rests easy in the assurance that because his pay is from a Master of grace, it will be gracious. Those whom Christ fed miraculously, though of different sizes, men, women, and children, did all eat, and were filled. Most scholars have also recognized in the many a clear reference to Isaiah.
